The iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic robot vacuum that has a variety of innovative features that make it easier to maintain than other models. Its automatic bin emptying is one of the most convenient features we've seen in an iRobot and it is compatible on both hard floors and carpets. It's also easy to set up and operate with the app that guides you through the process step-by-step. Another feature that is impressive is the ability to return to where it was when we tested it. It did this for 77 minutes on one cleaning before running out of battery.
The i3+ EVO is different from the other robot vacuums that we tested comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically dumps debris in an external dirt compartment on its charging base once it is fully filled. The i3+ EVO is able to prevent overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However it must be manually empty at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dustbin holds 2.4L of debris that is enough to last four or five cleaning sessions before you need to replace it.
Like the i7, this model also uses the latest floor tracking sensors to create maps and navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, while the i7 can store multiple. The i7 also has the ability to utilize its map to create no-go zones as well as virtual barriers, however the i3+ EVO can't.
While the i3+ EVO is better at picking up debris on surfaces than the other robovacs we looked at, it's not the best for cleaning corners and edges. It is also less gentle on furniture, despite being fairly quiet. robot vacuum cleaners was quite rough on furniture, as it forced chairs away. It also caused collisions with the sides of the test bed.

This is the first robot we've seen that has 3D mapping. This, in conjunction with other innovations, helps it perform exceptionally well in our mopping and vacuuming tests. It is possible to schedule cleanings and set up no-go zones. You can also view the battery's status. The app is simple to use, however it isn't compatible with Apple HomeKit. This feature is scheduled to be added in 2025. As of early November, Apple has updated a footnote on its website to indicate that this feature is delayed until 2025.
